RUMOUR MILL, July 30: Saints set for Osvaldo swap

Saints will agree to let Dani Osvaldo join Inter Milan on loan, while they will receive Algerian midfielder Saphir Taider in return, the Daily Mail report, along with media in Italy.

The club are keen to offload record signing Osvaldo after a disastrous first season and apparently want 22-year-old Taider as part of the deal.

A number of papers, including the Telegraph and Mirror, also report that Aston Villa will hold talks with captain Ron Vlaar this weekend, as they attempt to ward off supposed interest from Saints.

The Mirror also say Saints remain hopeful of securing Celtic keeper Fraser Forster and Sporting Lisbon defender Marcos Rojo this week.

His nickname is the tiger and from what it shows on you tube you can see why. He does like a tackle. Passing looks good and he's got a shot on him
I know its only a compilation but he looks good as a MF in case Spyder and Cork do a runner. I think we get the better of the deal if it comes off.

So with lambert, guly, osvaldo and Rodriguez out of the equation, it makes perfect sense to be recruiting a midfielder cos we're well short there aren't we. Unless jwp, cork, wanyama, Davis, spider or reed are on there way. Can't see this deal happening. Would quite like us to replace some strikers and defenders first.

It makes perfect sense to be signing anybody. I fear Schneiderlin will go eventually and this fella looks the business (rumours are that Cork is reaching for a lifebelt too) So maybe he's going to be a just in case signing. (or indeed loan)

There are rumours that Southampton are weighing up a bid for West Ham centre back Winston Reid as a direct replacement for Dejan Lovren who they sold to Liverpool for £20m. Reid has turned down a £60,000 per week five year contract on offer from West Ham with just a year remaining on his existing contract. Southampton may look to use part of their windfall to tempt West Ham cut their losses before he leaves for free next summer. No bids or inquires have been received by West Ham to date for Reid but that could soon change as the Saints look to rebuild their squad from the ground up.

Ron Vlaar has revealed he will sit down with his agent next week and ‘assess the options’ amidst rumours of interest from Lazio.

The capital club have already signed Stefan De Vrij, and are hoping to add Netherlands teammate Vlaar to their backline by the start of the season.

The Oranje international was one of the stars of the World Cup, and only has one year left on his contract at Aston Villa.
