Southampton chairman Ralph Krueger thinks fans will love the results of Ronald Koeman's 'revolution'

Ralph Krueger believes Saints fans will be delighted when they see the results of the ‘Ronald Revolution.’

Saints chairman Krueger is a big fan of the man he helped appoint as the club’s new manager and a few weeks on is still delighted with the choice the club have made.

He has every confidence that Koeman will deliver the style of football Saints fans want to see and that the results will come with that.

“I was pleased to meet him in the interview process and the hiring process and was elated with the energy he brings with his staff on a daily basis and the training level we have going on,” said Krueger.

“What’s really important is that there has been a very very strong and strategic approach to this whole summer and the rebuilding of the team.

“I believe that I heard a few fans had called it the ‘Ronald Revolution.’

“I would like to apologise to the fans who are frustrated with the silence of the board and I understand that, and I can only say we were not silent for any reason other than we were trying to bring deals across the line at a premium and, if not, those players were not going anywhere.”

He added: “Ronald has been an outstanding part of this team.

“It’s a good time to remind everybody through you in Southampton there has been a lot of newness and change and that brings these kind of emotions that popped up now.

“We don’t expect trust yet, we are in the process of trying to earn it.

“In March we needed an entirely new executive board and we did an excellent job and we needed a coaching staff and we have a world class coaching staff.

“We walked into a situation where there were quite a few players and a manager who wanted a shortcut to the Champions League.

“We need to build methodically towards Europe and we want players that want to be here not for a few weeks but for a few years.

“Ronald is very clear on what type of team he wants and to play an entertaining brand of football.”

I'm on the bus too. Though its a farce for a team who finished with such promise last year could end up selling 7 first team regulars. That's either very bad management or could turn out to be a master stroke. This article is board hype though trying to silence the dissenters.

Positive reporting at last looks like we are going to franchise the acadamy excellent news. This will take the Southampton brand internationally and help give us the financial base to really challenge the big 4. If anything i see the board taking us Public in the future and i for one would invest in that. Let's please stop all the digs and negative posts and allow the Board and RC get the show on the road. Time to judge will be next May and i fancy we will have a cup in the cupboard by then. COYS!!!!

Great to hear that Saints still have Champions League ambitions and they are building a sustainable model rather than going broke to win an FA Cup!!! I am starting to feel quite optimistic about the five year journey ahead of us. We may need to go back two places to go forward four but it will be an enjoyable ride.

To be fair to the board they will have had no choice but to sell those players under ffp rules and as such I believe they have pulled a master stroke in getting 'premium' prices for them and in return Ron gets to build a squad out of choice and using sustainable contracts - he seems a very intelligent and experienced guy and would not have come without agreeing a plan and knowing the position.

Please just give us something positive to re-ignite our passion. I have faith that things are progressing well behind the scenes, but with players that have left/or wanting to leave, it stands to reason that we might be a tad upset and disillusioned by it all.

I agree with Ralph on this one. I personally believe that Ron will do a very good job and will hopefully be able to reverse this perception of us as a club with no ambition. If he can do that he might be able to attract some quality players. But the people running our club haven't helped in that regard, they have made an absolute mess of things, with neutrals bemused at the goings on. And long term KL, Les and Ralph will only be a deterrent to quality players joining, they have NOT instilled confidence in anyone and have greatly dented our reputation in the football world.

We NEED a few more quality players to join who will encourage bigger players to join us.

3 we have our very own Ronnie the rocket ☺ and I can't wait to see him launch into the high orbit of the premier.

A very well considered article on the future of the Saints brand and franchising of the academy. We are currently in the unique position of our PL rivals getting in such a flap over the products of our academy system that they're doing a fantastic (and free) marketing job for us. Time to strike while the iron is hot.

As for Ralph meeting representatives from Spuds on his North American tour: perhaps he was letting the people who really matter know what sort of viper they've got themselves for their £2m.

OK, fair point but just look at the fees we got. That money cannot really be ignored, especially when the players want away.

It's like this

RICKIE. Done his duty and deserves a bonus like this. £4 million

ADAM. - not happy about that but he did get subbed quite often at the 60 minutes mark. He left under a cloud, saying he would NEVER play again for us. £25 million

LOVREN. Disloyal and a traitor to the fans with his spiel a about his head being in Anfield. Really upset us. Also, got booked and is likely to give away penalties. £20 million

SHAW.. A wonderful talent and looked exciting every game. But quite often his runs got him to the penalty area and then nothing! Never scored but should have done. £27 million + add-ons

CHAMBERS.. This, for me, was the most disappointing loss. He has a lot of talent and already Wenger is talking about playing him mid-field. He follows in the bad losses of Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain, again to bl..dy Arsenal. £16 million or thereabouts.

We need to see how the replacements turn out, but in the cold light of day the money we got has to be top dollar.

We will live with it. Also a respected manager who will attract players and has got 2 already - like it to have been SIX and it maybe.

We love our Saints, thank you very much.

Also, I'm not sure I understand him saying about a"short cut to the Champions League" either.Cortese was too sharp to have ever done a Leeds, and five years isn't exactly a short cut to have been only a relatively small investment away from maybe achieving that goal, this season.
That statement just seemed like another "financial problems" below the belt dig at Cortese to shift attention (coalition government style)off of some of their own,at this moment, seeming ineptness.
I agree that things will probably still be alright under Ron's management though,as long as the new players come in.

Because by September 1st we will have played 3 games, and could have lost nthem all, shipped a hatful of goals and be bottom of the League. I know that that is the date the transfer window will have closed which is why we need to get new faces in before then.

typical post from you skimming over the top.

so let's look at your statement shall we?

'how many top players want to play for Southampton'

Well, the ones who want to play in the Premier League for a start because the last time I checked that's where we are and there's a whole season to play before anyone can truly claim we are going to get relegated. I will to bet that you are no better at predicting the future than I am (because let's be honest if we could predict the future we'd be on some beach somewhere knocking back the cocktails having won the lottery... well.... since you smell a bit fishy to me I'd be up the other end of the beach knocking back the cocktails while you skulked in some rockpool interfering with the starfish)

'you have just let five top players leave'
Now I need you to pay attention my little fishy friend as there may be a test.

no we didn't, we didn't want anyone to leave so what we did was sell them for the best price we could get. which is the right way to do it if you think about it. And the result of that is a nice transfer kitty with anything remaining being invested in the club.
you see it's like this.... we had some beans. and then someone came along and said 'hello! can we buy a player' and we said 'no, go away' but they came back again and again and then the player said 'look sorry but I'd really quite like to go' so we said 'ok you can go but we want more beans in return' so then they gave us lots and lots of beans. and this happened five times. So now we have a very big sack of beans and along the way we have gone to other clubs and given them some of those beans for players and we haven't finished doing that yet.
This is what is known as 'good business'. now the important thing about 'good business' is that it has no emotion. It is about getting the best possible deal (or beans) for what is being sold. It is most definitely not about the idea of 'I want to keep this fantastic team together so I'm not going to sell' and then watching some of the players throw a temper tantrum and refusing to play because they are worth a lot of beans and no club can afford to lose lots of beans. So what happens is, no matter how you feel about it, you get as many beans as you can. And it's ALWAYS a good idea to end up with some beans left over - this is called profit.

I do hope you have managed to keep up with this. you probably haven't since you are more than likely afflicted with the same strange inability to count beans as everyone else at the fishy end of the M27. this is why skateville are struggling near the bottom of the football league and the mighty Southampton are not.

I would imagine (and that's all it is) that we are not prepared to pay silly money for players. We will come in really low and increase the offer slowly, not rushing into anything - nearly all our outgoing players went for ridiculous prices
