It appears that the board have sensibly drawn a line in the sand and said no more transfer dealings until the new manager is in place. If we look at the facts, Rickie has gone in a move that none of us would have begrudged him and now the board have said nothing will be decided until the new man is appointed. Well done board and stop panicking everyone.
I still don't understand why people are saying chill out and relax and being so calm over the dismantling of our club. Krueger is IN MY OPINION in this to destroy the club he's not actually saying he and the board won't sell anyone else he's just realised if they sell anyone else so close to losing MP and RL there would justifiably be uproar. My issue is he feels NOTHING for the club or it's heritage. Yes he can spout rhetoric and is reasonably adept at propaganda but when it comes to PROOVING he actually cares about the fans our SFC where is the evidence that backs it. I never really believed i'd say this but I am beginning to ACTUALLY believe the time has come for new owners. Cortese please, please please come back you may have had faults and got some things wrong but this situation would never have happened under your watch. Bring on the thumbs down but please note I and my views are not validated over whether the other fans that care about the club support my thoughts. We all want whats best for SFC we just have very different views over how that is obtained. My view is the removal of the current board your's maybe we trust the board and well done for keeping the faith but all I ask is respect each others opinions.
you are of course entitled to your views and opinions and have put quite eloquently and without the abuse that some on here feel necessary.
you will of course note, if you have read these threads, realise that I disagree with you, and I would like to counter your points, I will also do this with any abuse or malice.
people are saying `chill out` and `relax` because what is there currently to get overly concerned about, there is no evidence of the `dismantling of the club. we have had a manager leave who was always going to, even though the board tried to keep him by offering a better contract than spuds. there was nothing the board could have done to keep him, he played us!
we have also sold a striker who is getting on a bit. as much as I love SRL the move was best for him and the club.
Ralph cant say the club isn't going to sell, although he`s done the next best thing. if diverpool came in with an offer of £40mill for lalla it would be very hard for any board to turn it down.
if he was here to dismantle the club and `asset strip` then the bids of £25mill for lalla and £27mill for luke would have been accepted already, a multi-billionaire isn't going to bother haggling over £3-£5mill. why would they worry about any `uproar` from the fans. if they were just after the money they would sell the players whether the fans liked it or not.
Ralph is very good at talking, its his job after all, and yes rhetoric is rhetoric but he has backed his words with actions. if he wasn't here for long why did he bother doing the bike ride with the foundation? he has also turned down bids for players, which is what he said he would do.
so far they have done ok, yes MP is gone and yes they sold SRL but you cant really blame them for those.
as fr NC and new owners, be careful what you wish for. think about hull or Cardiff and the troubles they are having with their owners. NC wasn't the great god that he has been portrayed as. yes he`s done wonders for the club but he also caused a lot of hassle, no photographers in sms unless they pay. being taken to court twice and overspending.
this would never of happened under NC? he wanted to sack MP in December but was convinced not to by the players, he was selling SRL to Hoof until Osvaldo went loopy, so no it wouldn't have happened now as it already would have. as for the bids for our players, do you honestly think that diverpool and manure wouldn't have bid for our players if NC was in charge? of course they would, and they would have ben given the same answer as Ralph has given them, NO.
if there was a billionaire out there who had genuine love for the club why didn't they come forward when we were in trouble? instead ML came forward and it was clear to see he loved the club, maybe that's rubbed off on KL, there were stories in the press when NC left that she had no love for football, how do the press know that about a very private lady when their not sure of her age or family?
as I say I respect your views and have just tried to counter them with my views and opinions. if im wrong then so be it we are in trouble, however if im right then the club can progress in the manner we all want."

Southampton say they have no need to accept offers for their players

Basingstoke Gazette: Saints chairman Ralph Krueger Saints chairman Ralph Krueger

Saints have issued a statement following the departure of Rickie Lambert to Liverpool, addressing the issue of transfers and the search for a new manager.

Here it is in full...

"Southampton Football Club can confirm that we have received multiple offers for some of our players in the past weeks. This is a confirmation of the depth of the development that is ongoing in our academy and of the present standing of our first team within the Premier League.

"We are staying true to our plan and vision and, as a result, we have no need to accept any offers.

"We are deep in the process of appointing a new manager who will continue to move our club forward.

"It remains our preference not to partake in any transfers until the new manager is in place.

"Our scouting & recruitment department continues to monitor targets we have identified to improve our squad, and the new manager will have final input into our recruitment process.

"However, Southampton Football Club can confirm that it has reached agreement with Liverpool for the transfer of Rickie Lambert.

"There may be circumstances under which the club will feel it is right for a player to move on. Those circumstances have to be right for the club and the player. This is the case with Rickie’s move to Liverpool.

"When Rickie Lambert requested to leave for Liverpool, the club felt it could not stand in the way of having him fulfil his boyhood dream of playing at home.

"It will be a big challenge to replace him and our intention is to source a quality replacement who will fill his shoes now but also for many years to come.

"Chairman Ralph Krueger commented: “On behalf of the club, I would like to thank Rickie. He served with distinction and helped to take Saints from League 1 to the Premier League.

“Rickie has been a shining light in Saints’ growth and will forever remain an icon in the history of the club. He leaves with the best wishes of everyone at Southampton and will always be welcome back at St Mary’s.”
