Few goals for Canaries to sing about

NORWICH arrive at St Mary’s tomorrow with the worst away defensive record in the top flight – and one of the worst scoring ones in it too!

The Canaries have shipped 32 goals in their 14 away league games, including seven at Manchester City and five at Liverpool.

Chris Hughton’s men have also lost 4-1 at Arsenal and by the same scoreline on their last away league game at Aston Villa earlier this month.

Norwich have’t been much better at scoring goals than they have in trying to stop them going in at the other end.

With just 22 goals to their name, they are the joint second lowest scorers in the top flight.

The only team who have scored fewer goals is Crystal Palace, whose 1-0 loss to Saints last weekend ensured they have netted just 19 goals in 29 games.

Norwich have only scored nine times in their 14 away games, registering a blank in six of those contests.

They are one of five Premier League clubs to have suffered 10 away defeats this term.

Twice they have won away from Carrow Road – 1-0 at Stoke and 2-0 at West Bromwich Albion.

Since triumphing at The Hawthorns on December 7, the Canaries have picked up just two points from six away games, scoring only three goals in the process.

One man desperate for a goal tomorrow will be Norwich’s £8.5m record signing Ricky van Wolfswinkel.

The Dutchman arrived last summer in a blaze of publicity, and promptly scored on his debut against Everton.

But he has failed to net again in his subsequent 18 league games, leaving former Saints target Gary Hooper as Norwich’s top Premier marksman with five goals.

I feel for Chris Hughton - a genuinely nice guy who's been shat on by incompetent management above him (at Birmingham and Newcastle). At least they've remained patient at Norwich so far.

On paper we should pummel Norwich, something that will please my hosts tomorrow (I'm off to Portman Road to watch Ipswich vs Wigan with some of my uni mates), let's hope their bogey team status is left with the turkeys in Norfolk.

Costa Baz says...

We always seem to struggle against them, at home, so I really don't know how to call this.
They don't score many, but then nor were Stoke free scoring when they visited, but they scored twice.
Wolfswinkel. How much longer can he go without a goal?
I see Hooper and Redmond as their main threats, with Snodgrass just being a nasty little man, falling over at every opportunity, to get free kicks within shooting distance.
Head says 2-0 to us, but heart wants a 4 or 5 goal victory. It's overdue.
