Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Artur Boruc will be missing for “some weeks” with a broken hand, while the Saints boss also revealed that Morgan Schneiderlin is out of tomorrow’s game against Aston Villa.
Boruc sustained his injury after colliding with the post during the build-up to Chelsea’s equalising goal in Sunday’s match at Stamford Bridge, which the Blues won 3-1.
After the fixture, he was taken to hospital for x-rays, with the scans revealing that he had sustained a fracture in his hand.
With back-up Kelvin Davis also out injured, Paulo Gazzaniga replaced him, and the 21-year-old is set to continue in goal tomorrow night, as Villa visit St Mary’s.
“Artur has an injury in his hand and it’s difficult to know right now exactly how many weeks he is going to be out, but we do know he is going to be out for some weeks,” said Pochettino, who also lost Schneiderlin to a groin injury at Chelsea.
“Morgan as well has a problem, he won’t be fit tomorrow and, overall, we have a few players that are not going to be fit for tomorrow’s game.”
Those other players include Gaston Ramirez, Danny Fox and Guly do Prado, who will all be absent.
