SAINTS striker Che Adams has been nominated for the Championship player of the month award for April.

The Scotland international striker scored six goals in eight games as Saints looked to push on to automatic promotion.

Southampton's campaign stuttered after three consecutive defeats but manager Russell Martin singled Adams out for praise.

Adams, 27, scored braces against Coventry City and Preston at home, backing up goals versus Ipswich Town and Watford.

Adams is out of contract at Saints this summer and looks set for a free transfer to a Premier League side after failing to sign a new deal.

The former Birmingham City man is up against Fabio Carvalho (Hull City), Emmanuel Latte Lath (Middlesbrough) and Haydon Roberts (Bristol City).

Carvalho scored five goals and registered two assists from seven games, having arrived on loan from Liverpool in January.

Latte Lath scored half of his side’s goals in April - seven out of 14 in six games, including one against Saints - and added an assist.

Roberts, 21, has grown into his role on the left side of a Bristol City back three which conceded
just two goals in six games.

Award winners are set to be announced on Friday, May 3, with the judging panel comprised of Sky Sports commentator Don Goodman, EFL chief executive Trevor Birch and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.
