Good morning, I hope everyone has had a good week and enjoyed the win over Preston on Tuesday. It was a great performance and just what we needed.

I touched on it in the Sky Sports studios at half-time, it was great to see a performance like we've seen on many occasions but this time, to score the goals to match it.

It would have been nice to have really thumped them with a fourth or fifth but it was already job done, wasn't it?

You always wonder, we've let teams back in in the past and that happened with Watford so it was good to see, and it's always nice to work on win and have a bit of fun as well.

Moss Bros were very kind to kit me out for my appearance and they have got some beautiful stuff in the shop, things that I do like.

We opted for the livelier of the choices that were on display just with a bit of sunshine coming in, I just thought I'd try and brighten it all up...

It certainly seemed to get a bit of attention and a few comments, a bit of fun and banter flying around in the studio.

But everyone seemed to like it and I certainly have to wear the socks again, I might have to get the lucky green socks on again for the rest of the games

I didn't have what I would call superstitions but I did have a routine back in my playing days so I suppose you could call it that.

I would always put on my left sock before the right sock and then I'd put my left boot on before my right boot.

The other thing I did all the time at the Dell was always tap the top bannister on the stairs down from the changing rooms.

It's daft really because it doesn't have any significance but I found myself doing it, and then all of a sudden I was doing it all the time.

There was always someone coming into the dressing room who was getting some sort of flack from the rest of the guys.

If there was an item of clothing, a pair of shoes, a jacket or something that was a little bit out there or a bit scruffy, then it certainly would have been picked up on.

More often than not, it was someone like Jason Dodd. Mind you, he had the loudest voice out of anybody, you always heard him laughing before you saw him.

It could also have been someone like Claus Lundekvam, who came in in one of his Scandinavian knitted jumpers or something.

Next thing you know, when we come back in from training and walk into the changing room, the jumper or the item of clothing would be just hung up on the light.

That never happened to me, though, I'd like to think I was sort of in a safety zone when it comes to that sort of thing.

Maybe some of my teammates weren't keen on risking the wrath of me on the training ground, I seemed to escape all that - thankfully.

Doddsy was a great captain, he'd always dig out someone, even if he had something rogue himself. I think sometimes it was to deflect away,

I remember Barry Vennison would always be dressed head to toe in designer. More often Versace, not to say that it made him look that much better.

He had a bit of the long mullet at the back. That might have cost a few quid, but if you asked me the best dressed?

A lot of the players looked smart when we were suited and booted a little bit, but it would probably have to be Graeme Souness.

He just looked real classy, really smart. Immaculate. His hair and even the moustache looked good. He was probably best dressed over the years.

It probably helped a few of us when we were either in a club suit or a club tracksuit. It saved us from having to choose our fashion.

I came from an era where there were a few real dodgy shellsuits and I had a few of those myself, there's probably a picture or two around I wouldn't want to see.

But I remember when we had Carlton Palmer and David Hirst at the club. They were living up north and often travelling down for training and games.

During the week, they would be dressed in casual gear or tracksuits and one day they said, 'Oh, we're off to the races today'. I didn't know much about horse racing.

The ensuing conversation made it very clear that it wouldn't be possible - for one thing, they were training that morning down here.

You've got to go up north somewhere, you just won't logistically be able to make it, they were told. "And look at the state of you," someone added.

Going to the races, everyone normally goes in their suits and ties. Anyway, they said, 'Oh no, we've got it all sorted'. I think Hirstie said, 'Carlton's booked the transport'.

Just before training finished, we heard this helicopter circling the ground. Next thing, it's landed on one of the training pitches.

Hirstie and Carlton sprinted into the changing rooms at the end of the session and got changed. What they didn't tell us was they'd also been to one of the local men's outfitters.

They literally bought a whole outfit, shoes, socks, shirt, tie, suit - all brand-new, off the peg, and they stepped into the helicopter and off they went.

Anyone who experiences the dressing room knows it's a unique environment, it's that camaraderie of a team.

That is a huge part of the enjoyment of what we did and it's just a real added bonus of playing football for a living.

Enjoy your weekend,

Franny.
