SIX Saints Women players will now return to Staplewood following the end of April's international break.

Goalkeeper Kayla Rendell made history this month by becoming the first Saints player to feature in England's senior women's team.

Having initially been selected for England's Under-23s, Rendell was drafted into the senior Lionesses squad for the first time in her career.

Rendell gained valuable experience, training with some of the country's best players, as qualification for the 2025 Women's European Championships began for Sarina Wiegman's side.

She watched from the bench as the Lionesses drew 1-1 with Sweden at Wembley Stadium before they beat the Republic of Ireland 2-0 on the road.

The 22 year old was England's third-choice goalkeeper behind Manchester United's Mary Earps and Chelsea's Hannah Hampton.

Rendell took to Instagram to share her feelings after her first senior England camp, saying: "Grateful for the opportunity, a proud moment for me and my family. Living my childhood dream."

Midfielder Alice Griffiths also featured in qualifying, coming off the bench for her sixth Wales cap in their 4-0 win over Croatia at Wrexham’s STōK Cae Ras Stadium.

Griffiths remained on the bench for Cymru's second game, a dominant 6-0 win over Kosovo, which saw them earn maximum points from their opening qualifying games.

Laura Rafferty captained her country once again as Northern Ireland claimed three points with a 3-1 win over Bosnia & Herzegovina. She also played a full 90 in their 0-0 draw with Malta.

At under-23s level, Ella Morris, Lucia Kendall and Molly Pike were called up for their final camp of the season which included a friendly against Sweden.

Morris played the full 90 minutes and assisted England’s opening goal, teeing up Liverpool’s Missy Bo Kearns to set the Young Lionesses on their way to a 3-1 victory.

Kendall came off the bench in the closing stages as a late substitute, while Pike watched on from the sidelines at AFC Telford’s New Bucks Head Stadium.

Southampton are next in Women's Championship action against London City Lionesses on Sunday, April 21.

Marieanne Spacey-Cale's side are still in with an outside shot of making the division's one and only promotion spot.

They sit four points off the top spot with two games remaining, however, second-place Crystal Palace have a game in hand.

Spacey-Cale has admitted that promotion is unlikely this season but she remains proud that her side have improved on their league standing from last season.
