FORMER Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has been named manager of Wolfsburg and will take his first training session on Tuesday.

The 56 year old had been out of work since he was sacked at St Mary's in November 2022.

Hasenhuttl spent nearly four years in charge of Saints, peaking with an 11th-place Premier League finish in 2020.

The Austrian boss had been linked with several jobs, including the likes of league rivals Everton, since his departure from the south coast.

However, he has now been confirmed officially as the new Wolfsburg boss.

The German outfit have parted ways with manager Nico Kovac following three back-to-back defeats in Bundesliga.

Wolfsburg sit 14th in the division, six points clear of potential relegation, with just eight games left of the season.

Former Austrian international Hasenhuttl helped RB Leipzig to qualify for the Champions League in his last tenure in the Bundesliga.
