Saints have begun their pre-season training camp in Belgium, with new manager Ronald Koeman putting his players through their paces.

Defender Dejan Lovren is one of the squad members to have made the trip, with Koeman issuing him instructions in the below picture.

Croatian international Lovren has been the subject of two failed bids from Liverpool this summer, and said recently that he feels his head is already at Anfield.

The centre half had been considering staying away from pre-season in a bid to force through a move to the Reds.

However, Lovren opted to return in the end, after speaking twice to Koeman on the phone and hearing the strong words the new manager had to say when he held his first press conference last Friday.

Basingstoke Gazette:

(Koeman and Lovren continue their discussions)

At that point, Koeman admitted he did not know if the 25-year-old would show up, but Lovren was on the plane that left from Southampton on Sunday, and he was out on the training pitch yesterday.

While the two have been speaking together during the sessions, Koeman also plans to sit down off-the-pitch with the defender while they are away to discuss matters.

Basingstoke Gazette:

(Dusan Tadic enjoys a laugh during training)

The training camp, which is being held just outside Genk, also gives summer signing Dusan Tadic, an £11m capture from FC Twente, a chance to work with his new teammates.

Tadic may feature in tomorrow's friendly against Dutch amateur side EHC Hoensbroek, as Saints hop over to the Netherlands for the first of two fixtures this week.

They will return to Belgium to face KSK Hasselt on Thursday.

Cut and paste from a previous thread
:
This from the OS
Victor Wanyama misses the trip as he prepares to represent Kenya in a 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Lesotho.
Squad list:
Artur Boruc, Billy Sharp, Calum Chambers, Dejan Lovren, Dušan Tadić, Emmanuel Mayuka, Graziano Pellè*, Harrison Reed, Jack Cork, Jack Stephens, Jake Flannigan, James Ward-Prowse, Jason McCarthy, Jay Rodriguez, Jordan Turnbull, Jos Hooiveld, José Fonte, Kelvin Davis, Lloyd Isgrove, Matt Targett, Maya Yoshida, Nathaniel Clyne, Paulo Gazzaniga, Sam Gallagher, Sam McQueen, Steven Davis

*Joining squad shortly

Gaston and Morgan will be back soon. Others players were left behind to fulfill the Under 21/ Development squad fixtures.
No news about Osvaldo yet, still on a sick note presumably.

Why don't we just give him the benefit of doubt for now. He displayed some degree of maturity for making the trip with the team after all. If he can admit his err and apologize to the team and fans, then he should be welcomed back by all. Mistakes do happen, we all have said things in the midst of anger,

I would imagine that interest from Liverpool may have cooled after his comments. They were very unprofessional and seem to suggest that he has been tapped up.

Liverpool Fans don’t see Lallana’s actions as inappropriate his refusing to play ect was not much more than rumors and he publicly thanked the fans. I guess they see what they want to. However there has been a bit of a backlash regarding Lovren, his very pubic comments at the same time a Suarez leaving hasn’t sat well with some them.

Basically it seems very likely that as Ron said in his press conference the club knew about the 3 we have sold and basically got the best price they could for them.

I don’t think Lovren will be sold to Liverpool out of principle now. £25m is a ridiculous price to ask and it’s pretty much a brush off

Actually as usual I form my own opinion. I just say what I saw. I don't take notice of the press. As we all know it mostly lies and distorts. My view is that Lovren should have kept his mouth shut and waited to hear what the new manager had to say about future ambition rathet than simply swallow the line peddled by the previous incumbent and a couple of head swollen others. And he should put his own head in an ice bucket to take his own swelling down. He's a very good Centre back but not outstanding as he showed at the World Cup. Being coached by one of the best there was could change all that though. So I hope he grows up, learns a lesson and continues to help us drive forward.

I suddenly feel very positive. looking forward to seeing Schneiderlin back in the fold. We'll have a couple more additions in time for the home friendlies then off we go. I was a real Pochettino convert but Koeman as an air of charisma about him that can only come from being one of the best in your chosen profession.
I think our young players will learn very quickly that here is a man that has direction and plans is very good at what he does and is due their utmost respect.
Lots of bonding going on in Belgium and I hope that includes re-building bridges with Lovren.

IMO Ronald in conjunction with Les Reed will politely tell any other Manager who enquires about any one of the Players that no more are leaving, Ronald has smelt and likes what he's seeing and beginning to get to know his Players but the demand for other Clubs to want Saints Players continues.
Callum Chambers has been on Wengers mind for some time and has reared it's ugly head again, rumours and we all prefer not to believe them but they seemed to fester into actual unfortunately is J Rod is another wanted by Liverpool to replace Suarez and the very insincere ex Manager is also itching to poach him, I agree with OSPREY Lovren does look serious in every shot on the Saints site, they are self inflicted problems that he has to face and he needs to knuckle down to his commitment at least until January that will give time if necessary for Ronald to pin point a possible replacement if required.
There is an interesting article in Metro by life long Saints Supporter Chris Rann that I hope will make Liverpool Supporter fume with anger and even better could make steam come out of Brendan Rodgers head if he reads it oh my goodness will it hurt as it's short and sweet and could be Rodgers as we have never known him it's very nice and worth time to read.

RonKo is now on board and is well and truly steadying the ship. You can see his influence & man management in these photos. The players will respect, listen and want to impress him, but will fear falling out with him !

I think towards the end of last season the players secretly knew MoPo was leaving and concluded the clubs ambition/dream had ended. Then once our England players let others know they were probably off, it unsettled others and with the press headlines this putting more pressure on. The media, facebook & twitter etc has a lot to answer for.

It is a shame the board did not stand by their statements and make Adam & Luke stay for this month and spend some time with RonKo before any decision to sell them. Ricky's case was different and we needed to replace him this season anyway.

This is all history now and I'm not going to post any more about it.
It is now time to move on, as even the so called big teams loose their top players, so we have got to get used to it.

So looking forward I am becoming more excited by the day as I believe that the Koeman Brothers will be brilliant appointments.
Having the cash available will give RonKo the opportunity to add several of his own players to create his own team for next season, something our previous managers were not given much chance to do.

We now need him to sort out his squad and add the best quality LB, GK, CB and Striker that he can get. Les Reed must then get his chosen players signed up asap so he can get a settled side to hit the ground running.

TWO players by the end of next week and the other 2 or 3 before the last friendly must be the target.
