Inter Milan and Galatasary in battle to sign Dani Osvaldo

Basingstoke Gazette: Dani Osvaldo Dani Osvaldo

Inter Milan and Galatasary are fighting it out for Saints bad boy Dani Osvaldo.

The Italian striker is a summer transfer target for the European giants as it looks increasingly unlikely he will be welcomed back at St Mary’s.

Turkish side Galatasary are keen to add his firepower to their forward line for the new season and are believed to want to sign him on a permanent basis. Inter have emerged as another potential suitor for Osvaldo, but may favour a loan deal for the 28-year-old.

Saints would surely prefer to sell him if they can to put an end a forgettable year with their club record signing, and recoup some of the £12.9m they paid for him last summer, allowing Ronald Koeman greater funds for acquisitions.

However, if a loan is the only option then it at least would put off the problem of his return for a little longer.

Osvaldo has not reported for pre-season training with the rest of his Saints teammates and new manager Koeman after producing a doctor’s note to justify him staying away.

He is not too likely to be welcomed back any time soon anyway after his training ground headbutt on Jose Fonte saw him loaned out to Juventus for the second half of last season. Osvaldo secured a Serie A title with Juve but they declined to exercise their option to sign him permanently.

Osvaldo’s no-show for pre-season has hardly been treated as a huge blow to the club at St Mary’s.

With relations between him and the rest of the dressing room having become understandably strained to say the least following the reasons for his departure, and with interest in him from other clubs, the illness that is keeping Osvaldo away gives Saints extra breathing space to try and negotiate a move away for him.

When I saw the headline on twitter "Euro giants in battle to sign Saints striker" I feared the worse, Rodriquez! Then read it was Osvaldo and thought thank flippety bloomin heck it's him. And then, as if to open a light of righteousnesss and goodwill, there's a picture of Saint Billy on an ad for the pink saying he wants to force his way back into Koemans plans. Surely there's a fairy tale ending there? If this was Hollywood it would be a real tear jerker (with a sprinkling of large breasted women). Sadly, it's Southampton, UK but what is life without the dream:) God bless Saint Billy.

Ah, the power of a good agent - no wonder players love them so much. Just watch the footage of his minutes on the pitch last season (rather than 10 seconds against Man City).

Meanwhile, I would like to express my utter contempt for Lallana, Lambert, Shaw and Lovren - they are money-grabbing bar-stewards.
It is ironic that their so-called ambiitious and bigger new club will be acting as a feeder-club for one of the top Spanish sides by selling their only true star player in Suarez. So much for their ambition. Liverpool will struggle with their over-sized band of midfield, over-rated muppets!

Ship him out - should never have had him here in the first place, but believe it was a Cortese signing.

Agree. We need to sell Osvaldo. Might get £5m if were lucky just to get rid.

Southampton FC want £25m for Lovren.
If Liverpool have offered £20m for Lovren and if he is so desperate to get the rest of his carcass there and become a Liverpiddliun, why don't Lovren stump up the other £5m himself and put his money where his mouth is.

FFS take the money and run - even if we make a loss.

Better to make a loss than keep a loser (allegedly)?

Lets be honest, the amount we're getting from the Kop & Man Utd for our good players is more than we thought we'd have.

Sell this nobody and see how much more our pockets can be topped up!

Liverpool have been told they can have Lovren at 25 mill not a penny less. Think this deal will go though if Suarez goes to Barcelona otherwise think its a dead duck. he is taking much the same course as lallana who according to a club source 'threw his toys out of his pram and said he would not wear a Saints shirt again, which left a bitter taste with everyone.'
Suarez deal has stuttered because liverpool want Sanchez in part exchange , he doesn't want to go to Liverpool preferring Arsenal. Interestng they have bought yet another winger
Saints are interested in Columbia's left back according to the papers.

He as he put in a transfer re,so well loss his 8 or10%.

This was the player that Mopo wanted. Mopo may have made our team play good football but this choice was really suspect and very expensive. Poor Dani is probably suffering from an ingrowing ponytail and this will almost certainly take months to clear up. Please Please can Inter or Galatasary find it in their hearts to give him a permanent home. At least he doesn't bite and he hasn't nutted anyone to my knowledge for 6 months.
