Former Saints striker Bradley Wright-Phillips is in hot form for New York Red Bulls

Basingstoke Gazette: Wright-Phillips in hot form Wright-Phillips in hot form

Former Saints striker Bradley Wright-Phillips' prolific Major League Soccer form continued as the New York Red Bulls came from behind to draw 1-1 with Sporting Kansas City.

Kansas, second in MLS Eastern Conference, led through Antonio Toni's early goal but the ex-St Mary's hot-shot, who scored 25 goals in a three year spell on the south coast between 2006 and 2009,  scored his 10th goal in seven games five minutes after half-time.

The 29-year-old plays alongside Premier League legend Thierry Henry at New York. The former Arsenal striker has scored three times this season.

The Red Bulls lie sixth in the conference, four points behind their opponents, but have played 14 games compared to just nine for the team directly below them, Toronto FC.
