The Daily Star is reporting that Saints and Liverpool are still some way off agreeing a fee for Adam Lallana.
“Saints want a structured deal worth £26m with add-ons, which would could rise to close to £30m,” it says.
“Liverpool have already tabled an offfer of about £20m for Lallana, 26, and the Merseysiders will not break the bank.
"Southampton want as much cash from the deal as they can because they have to hand a quarter of it over to Lallana’s former club Bournemouth.
“The Cherries are owed 25 per cent of any fee received for Lallana as part of a compensation package set by an FA tribunal when he joined the Saints as a youngster.”
Meanwhile, Luke Shaw is closer to a move to Manchester United, according to footballdirectnews.com, which is reporting that representatives of the Saints left-back have held positive talks with the Red Devils.
“It is understood that, after hearing new boss Louis van Gaal wants to announce him as a United player as soon as possible, talks have further gained progress.
“Shaw’s representatives met with United officials to further agree the move and discuss a second bid that both parties were sure would be accepted by the Saints.”
