Glenn Hoddle has backed Mauricio Pochettino to follow his lead and leave Saints for Tottenham saying he can ‘work wonders’ if he takes charge at White Hart Lane this summer.

Hoddle quit Saints to take over at Tottenham in 2001.

"I think Pochettino is a super young manager," Hoddle told talkSPORT.

"He has done a brilliant job at Southampton and I think he would be a very good acquisition for Tottenham.

"I've been very impressed with the way he's had Southampton playing this year and I think, with the squad at Tottenham, he could do real wonders there."

With the new boss set to be Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy’s third appointment in two years, Hoddle has urged a period of stability going forward.

He added: "I think Spurs have to look at some continuity in the long term and, if they don't do that, they'll struggle.

"Changing the manager too many times in a short period of time isn't healthy for the club or the success the fans want."

Hoddle can get stuffed, what does he know about loyalty. If I remember when he was our manager he committed himself to the Saints just before he abandoned us so unceremoniously to rush off to the Spuds as soon as they clicked their fingers. He is a 2-faced tw*t.

Another excellent example of how becoming manager of spurs destroys careers. Shall we start a list of ex spurs managers that have gone onto manage at the highest level? Um...ummm.. Some one start me off please!

Why does The Echo continue to publish all these so called headline stories.
It seems to me that are on a mission as is The Mail to totally undermine Southampton Football Club.
How many large companies discuss the business negotiations they are constantly holding with the general public.
At the end of the day the board of directors will reach their decisions and there is very little the supporters, the news papers or anybody else can do.
So Hoddle your success since leaving Saints has not been great keep your nose out of our affairs or are you being supported by NC.

I agree with everything here. Hoddle also stitched up Matt. He should have gone to France.

Just one point, is the name Dave Brown related to the name of the tragic young Dave Briown who died at the age of 21 (in the 70s). He used to come with us in the car to away matches.
