Fans vote for Lallana

Basingstoke Gazette: Adam Lallana Adam Lallana

Adam Lallana’s brilliant year was topped off with a final piece of silverware when he was voted runaway winner of the Daily Echo’s Player of the Season award.

The famous old trophy, the longest running fan’s vote at the club, has seen the likes of Alan Ball, Kevin Keegan, Peter Shilton and Matt Le Tissier etched upon it.

The poll is for the club’s fans and again there was a bumper number of votes cast. However, the competition for first place was not even close. Lallana polled just short of 50 per cent of the total vote to be a clear winner.

There was a bit of a shock below that though with Jack Cork coming in second with 12.3 per cent of the vote, despite only playing about half the season. Third place went to Jay Rodriguez, who just edged ahead of Rickie Lambert.

Had things worked out differently,Cork could have been on the plane to Brazil. Glad to see him get second. Lallana is a hands-down winner of course.

Was their a presentation? Did Adam have anything to say? Did anyone have anything to say? Does he even know?

So many unanswered questions, this article could have been so much better

Deserved winner although there were were several others this season that could have won in previous years.
Adam is, more than anyone else, the centre of the great unity that we now have and must not be allowed to leave. However he is now 26 and with his best three years ahead of him in which he wants and deserves to be playing Champions League football, so does he stay to try to do it with Saints but possibly miss the opportunity, OR, go now to play it next season and double his money.
Time for the new Board to show their intent by securing MoPo quickly and signing four top players asap to convince all our top players to stay.
It would be a shame to waste the opportunity Saints now have.

Fans are very fickle, how many would have voted for Adam if he had said, "I am off to Scouse in the Summer?".
