Southampton supporters to be refunded ticket money after Premier League upholds club's complaint over Newcastle pricing

Basingstoke Gazette: More reasons to celebrate for Saints fans More reasons to celebrate for Saints fans

Saints fans who travelled to Newcastle earlier this season will be awarded a partial refund on their ticket costs, after the Premier League upheld a complaint from the club.

Saints approached the league after discovering that their supporters had paid “significantly” more for entry than home fans housed in the same section of the ground.

The Premier League agreed that they had been overcharged, meaning all of the 1,180 people who travelled to St James’ Park for the 1-1 draw on Saturday, December 14, will receive some money back from the Magpies.

Saints announced that the league have made the following adjustments:

  • Adults: £10 refund (£37 reduced to £27)
  • Seniors: £11 refund (£33 reduced to £22)
  • Juniors: £9 refund (£22 reduced to £13)

The Saints ticket office will contact supporters affected in the coming week to discuss arrangements for refunding the money.

It is the second major boost in a few days for away fans.

On Saturday, Saints revealed that they were subsidising tickets and travel for the trip to Swansea, on Saturday, May 3.

Adult tickets will be £5, with those in the under-16 and over-65 categories priced at £1.

Coach travel is also available at £5 for adults and £1 for under-16s.

Good to see the club taking a stand for the fans. Something that has been lacking in recent years

The difference is that in the Premier League games sell out! So even though we could take at least 3000 we are limited to the amount of away tickets we can have! Not a problem you get in League 2!!! Wtfiln!

Why are you still posting on an articles about Saints? We're not you're local rivals anymore, I'm afraid it just doesn't have any impact when Pompey are barely even in the football league. You should save your gibberish for some of the Eastleigh articles, they're your rivals now. I've even found one for you to get the ball rolling.... http://www.dailyecho

Please ignore the little sh!t and his totally inaccurate bullsh!t.

Hopefully, enough of us have already complained to the DE about his inappropriate comments made about Jay's injury. If so, perhaps the DE will see fit to ban him.

Surely a misprint. Still no refund from the Sunderland Cup debacle?
This smacks of Rupert Lowe when he got us some money back we didn't want from a beleaguered Bucharest, in the name of 'fairness' -typical Lord Snooty trying to rob the less well off. As I recall most of the good Saints fans gave it back /to charity mate.
