Tantrum as Dani disappoints again
Updated 9:20am Tuesday 1st April 2014 in Sport
Saints’ exiled record signing Dani Osvaldo was in a typically fiery mood as he fumed over being substituted in Juventus’ 2-0 Serie A defeat to Napoli.
The unpredictable Italian has failed to find the net in seven league appearances for the Turin club, after he was loaned out on the last day of the January transfer window following an alleged head-butt on Jose Fonte in a training ground bust-up.
It was in the runaway league leader’s second defeat of the season that the Saints striker was tasked with replacing the suspended Serie A top-scorer, with 18 goals, and former Manchester City forward Carlos Tevez.
Unfortunately for Osvaldo, his team suffered a rare defeat, their first in 22 games, in which he failed to impress, other than an ambitious overhead kick, and was substituted for Mirko Vucinic with 20 minutes to play, much to his displeasure.
The loanee St Mary’s man, who scored three goals in 13 appearances on the south coast after a big money move of around £15million from Roma, was reportedly seen to throw a tantrum, chucking the training jacket he was handed to the ground in disgust.
His disappointing performance has further fuelled speculation in Italy that he is unwanted by Juventus and will be returned to England in the summer, although it is expected that Saints will look to recoup some of the £15m they spent on him, by selling the 28-year-old.
