Motorists have been urged to plan ahead as roads in Southampton are set to be busier than usual.

With Southampton FC playing at home and the city playing host to several cruise ships, delays this weekend are expected.

Saints will take on Stoke at St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday, with kick-off at 3pm.

Routes around the stadium will be busy before and after the game.

At sea, increased passenger numbers are expected on Red Funnel journeys, particularly on Saturday.

Three cruise ships will sail into the city on Saturday, with four expected to dock on Sunday.

This will make the waterfront area busy.

The temporary anti-clockwise, one-way system on the Ring Road remains in place from Charlotte Place to the Civic Centre.

According to Southampton City Council, the next stage of works is resurfacing which starts on Monday.

The junctions of Grosvenor Square, Bedford Place and London Road will be closed overnight on April 29 and April 30 from 8pm to 6am.
