A DATE has been set for the resumption of the trial of three people in connection with the murder of a teenager in Basingstoke.

Olamide Soyege, 28 of Dagenham, and Terence Maccabee, 19 of Southwark, are charged with the murder of Taylor Williams in the town on August 31, 2019, as well as robbery charges.

Meanwhile, Paige Taylor, 23 from Basingstoke, is charged with robbery.

The trio were standing trial in March before it was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Now, Winchester Crown Court have confirmed that the trial is due to resume on October 12.

It is estimated it will take another 4-5 weeks.

The court had previously heard how the teenager, of Bromley, was “senselessly” stabbed to death after an attempted robbery by a rival drug gang operating in Basingstoke, a court heard today.

Eighteen-year-old Taylor Williams died in Shooters Way on Saturday, August 31, 2019 after a stab wound to his chest fatally cut his heart, causing him to lose a litre of blood and suffer a cardiac arrest.

All three defendants deny all charges put to them.
