BASINGSTOKE'S Paul Hogan will face former world champion and current world number one Michael van Gerwen on live television at the Coral UK Open darts this afternoon.
The 51-year-old, who came through a qualifying event in Southampton to reach the main draw, won four matches yesterday to make the last 32, beating the world number 40, Dutchman Benito van de Pas, in round three.
The draw for the fourth round, which will be played this afternoon, saw Hogan handed a match against 2014 World Champion and current world number one Michael van Gerwen.
The match will be played on the main stage at Butlins Minehead, meaning it will be screened live on ITV4. Hogan and van Gerwen are due to be the second match on, with the programme going live at 11.45am.
Hogan, who lives in Buckskin, remains a rank outsider to win the tournament, with odds of 250-1, while he is 6-1 to beat van Gerwen in their best of 17 leg encounter.
However, the Dutchman pulled a muscle in his throwing arm and was clearly in pain during his 9-3 win over Paul Nicholson last night.
