WOW! What a show! We took the family to see a matinee of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton and we were left in awe of the spectacle.

The show is amazing, a real treat for the senses. The brochure claims that it is 'the fairest panto in the land', well... we can't argue with that.

With its huge cast, it knocks spots off any other panto. To be fair, you need quite a few people in order to properly tell the story of Snow White. And it was a delight to see the dwarfs (all seven) and a whole army of guardsmen with the prince.

With Kev Orkian playing Muddles, and leading the show, it really was packed full of laughs. He's one of the UK's finest comedy performers and his natural ability to be funny appeals to all ages. My kids, aged four and six, loved him - as did me and my partner. In fact, the whole audience was laughing with him and joining in at his command.

Ashley Banjo makes a fine Prince Ashley and Diversity are excellent guards, bringing action and dance to the show, as well as a coolness any young kid/teenager will appreciate.

An absolute highlight of the show is the Man in the Mirror, played by panto royalty Christopher Biggins, who dazzles in fabulous costumes.

Kirsty Ingram is the lovable Snow White and Rachel Stanley makes a talented Queen Dragonella, not too scary for the young ones.

The set is also marvellous - in fact it's breathtaking at times. It's so good it leaves you rubbing your eyes, asking 'is this real?'.

We sat in the balcony (after booking last minute) - and it really didn't matter. We had a great view and it was packed so the atmosphere was just as good up high as it was down below.

The show is hilarious, it has you singing along and joining in, its songs are catchy, its catchphrases stick in your mind and the jokes will no doubt resurface over Christmas dinner.

So if you want to enter the festive spirit, a trip to the Mayflower panto is a fabulous way to spend time with the family - it's certainly a memory we won't forget! (And that's not just Christopher Biggins dressed as Pamela Anderson).
