THE Beechdown Ladies A team of Sandra Smith, Nikki Acton, Sally Thompson and Sam Hollingdale are top the Basingstoke and District League Ladies 4 League by the narrowest of margins, following a 6-0 victory over bottom side Phoenix Ladies.

Reigning Champions Viking beat winless Beechdown B 4-2 to move level on points with the leaders.

Andover B represented by Pauline Prior, Beccy Dyer, Liz Roberts and Rebecca Sale pulled off a surprise by consigning Waverley to back-to-back defeats for the first time since 2014, with a 4-2 win.

The top three were in action in Open Division One, Viking were first to play and dispatched a two pair Hurst A 8-1. Michael Nash and Khem Bahadur-Limbu and Keith Godfrey and his partner remained unbeaten for Viking A, whilst Mark Payne and Tony Glinos battled their way to a win three end rubber for Hurst A to prevent the whitewash.

BH Pegasus beat Andover A 8-1 to retain top spot, with hat-tricks from Adam Turner/Nick Reid and Rob Clayburn/Manohar Challa and a double from Warren Johnson/Ramsay Domloge. Jon Purser/Keith Miles notched a single rubber for Andover A.

Another hat-trick from Peter Bevell/Neil Atkins and a treble from Wayne Drake/Oliver Hoult underpinned a 7-2 victory for Waverley A over BH Pegasus B, to move to third place, with a game in hand.

Viking B secured their first win in Open Division Two with a 8-1 win over Hurst B who are still searching for their first win. Tom and Keith Godfrey and Horace Mitchell/Robert Lewin both scored maximums and Chris Powell/Robert Jackson backed this up with a double. Jarek Bilek/ Richard Silk went the distance for Hurst B to gain a point.

Andover B moved eight points clear in Open Division Three with a 6-3 win over Phoenix, albeit having played a game more.

Hat-tricks from Tom Hicks/Peter Sellers and David Sneddon/Greg Jex secured the points for the leaders, whilst each of the Phoenix pairs won a single rubber.
