AN ‘INTERMITTENT issue’ has been affecting users of Basingstoke’s tip when booking same-day time slots to visit.

Hampshire County Council has apologised for the inconvenience affecting the Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) booking system, which it said is causing issues with some same-day bookings.

Visitors to a HWRC must book an appointment beforehand. However, some of the same-day bookings to the tip in Wade Road, Basingstoke, have not been showing up on the system, resulting in customers being turned away, despite having a booking.

Basingstoke Gazette: A spokesperson for Hampshire County Council advised customers to bring their confirmation email to help with the process.

They added: “We are aware of an intermittent issue with our Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) booking system which is currently affecting some same-day bookings.

"We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused to those customers who have been affected and are working with our provider to investigate and resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

“In the meantime, staff remain aware of the issue and are supporting the small number of customers who have booked for the same day but who are not appearing on the system, to be admitted.

"We advise customers to bring their confirmatory email when attending their local HWRC to help with this process.”
