Basingstoke's Patisserie Valerie is still open in Festival Place, following the sudden closure of the cake shop in Winchester and High Wycombe.

Nearly 100 years after its opening, Patisserie Valerie has grown to be one of the most-loved bakeries in the UK, with patisseries across the UK and Ireland.

However, Patisserie Valerie suddenly shut its Winchester doors on New Year's Day, with a sign in the empty shop saying: "This store will be closing as of Monday, January 1, 2024. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”

A reason for the closure has not been given.

This news comes after the café received a one-out-of-five food hygiene rating following an inspection in November.

The café had previously closed its doors for a few weeks last year while it underwent refurbishment, reopening in July.

The closure of the Winchester branch was followed by the closure of the High Wycombe branch on January 2.
