BASINGSTOKE Town FC have put seven goals past Swindon Supermarine in as many days – keeping the Wiltshire side at the bottom of the league.
‘Stoke welcomed Supermarine to the Winklebury Complex on Saturday, November 4, a week after they knocked them out of the FA Trophy.
The Basingstoke side currently has an injury crisis, with a number of players ruled out, which left manager Dan Brownlie describing Saturday’s game as a “horrible watch”.
Dan Rowe opened the scoring seven minutes in, trying his luck from a distance which saw the ball go through the keeper’s hands.
Supermarine almost drew level in the 10th minute but a phenomenal save from keeper Paul Strudley kept ‘Stoke on top. It wasn’t until extra time, the 46th minute, that the Swindon side equalised from a corner.

Supermarine opened the scoring in the second half, levelling the game on 48 minutes (2-2). Recent signing Liam Ferdinand took ‘Stoke ahead in the 63rd minute, with a cross from Kai Hobbs (3-2).
Ferdinand almost extended ‘Stoke’s lead on 66 minutes, but his effort from close range hit the crossbar, and in the same minute Supermarine drew level (3-3).
‘Stoke secured the win on 76 minutes with a ball from Bradley Wilson, finding Ferdinand who slotted it into the corner (4-3).

Speaking after the match, Brownlie said: “There was an expectation of today that it was going to be a little bit of outscoring them, we are fortunate that we did that to a certain extent, but this game seems to create very odd situations.”
He continued: “We’ve put on a decent performance against a really good team, the fact that they are bottom of the league and having spoken to a few of their players I think they are bored of hearing this sentiment. I’ll give their gaffer all the credit in the world because what he’s changed between last Saturday and today asks probably more questions of our midfield and our wide players than any other team has.”
