A CHARITY is looking to step up its mission to rejuvenate Basingstoke's neglected green space by getting more volunteers to join the team.

Vivid Plus, the charitable arm of housing association Vivid, has so far donated £6,520 to the project and contributed several Vivid staff to support waste removal.

Volunteers are tasked with clearing rubbish and green waste, weeding, and maintaining the newly cleared spaces.

Sarah Smith, place shaping manager, said: "Vivid Plus has enabled us to support a variety of projects in our communities. By improving these green spaces, we hope to see a positive impact on both our customers and residents' health and wellbeing.”

The project, which is also supported by Basingstoke Mencap and borough councillor Jacky Tustain, is looking for volunteers to join the team.

They meet at Popley Fields Community Centre, RG24 9AE, at 10am every Friday.

Equipment and refreshments are provided.

Cllr Tustain said: “I am extremely grateful to Vivid Plus, Basingstoke Mencap and all the volunteers for their support. We are already seeing improvements to our local greenspaces, and I look forward to seeing the project grow.”
