A 22-year-old man has been charged with aggravated burglary following an incident in Basingstoke.

The incident happened in Brighton Hill on Tuesday, August 29 after police were called around 7am to an address on Barber Road.

A window was smashed and electric scooter taken from the property, with a man since being charged with aggravated burglary and possessing a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place.

He is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, August 30.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: "A man has been charged with aggravated burglary following an incident in the Brighton Hill area of Basingstoke yesterday.

"Bobby Lawrence, 22, of no fixed abode, has been charged with aggravated burglary and possessing a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place. He was also charged with criminal damage to property valued under £5,000. 

"It comes after officers were called at 6.56am on Tuesday 29 August to a report of an incident at an address on Barber Road. A window had been smashed and an electric scooter had been taken from the property.

"Lawrence is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates Court today (August 30)."
