A BASINGSTOKE woman is not giving up hope of finding her pet pig which went missing over a week ago.

Annette Carrig, from Eastrop, rents land on Basing Road in Old Basing, and has a number of rescue animals, one of them being her rescue pig Squeak.

Squeak went missing on July 3 and, having been seen by other residents on the same day, has not been seen since. Annette said that Squeak had managed to get out of the pen before, but had always been found near or close by before.

An unknown person photographed Squeak not long after around 8.30am on July 3 in the middle of Basing Road, but she has not been seen since.

A Basingstoke resident named Carole Mason thought she had caught footage of Squeak on her Ring doorbell and contacted the Gazette but upon inspecting the video, it actually appeared to show a muntjac walking across her driveway.

Annette said she is now fearing the worst and thought Squeak could have "died or been stolen".

Annette said: "We've had no sight or sound of Squeak at all since she went missing on July 3. Normally if she's been walking or resting somewhere it would be obvious from the ground, but we've had no clues as to where she might be, which is a bit demoralising.

"We think she might have been stolen which would explain why no one has seen her at all, but we've not given up hope of finding her yet. Pigs can be self-sufficient, so she could be around just waiting for us to find her."

Annette added: "Anyone who thinks they might have seen her, please get in touch on Facebook. Thank you."
