A BASINGSTOKE family are raising money for a children's charity which provides their daughter with the therapy she needs.

Robyn Harron was diagnosed with spastic diplegia cerebral palsy just before her second birthday and will require life-long therapy including intensive physio sessions.

Now, Robyn's parents Charlotte and Lee are raising money for the charity Just4Children to help fund the therapy and adaptations to the home to support the four-year-old and encourage her to become as independent as possible.

Robyn was born at 31 weeks and three days, weighing just 3lbs 14oz.

Charlotte said: "At around 18 months, Robyn was still not walking so a call to the health visitor was made where we raised our concerns. We were advised she was doing great and just needed that little bit of extra catching-up time. I pushed for an appointment to be made with a paediatrician and physio, where I questioned if Robyn had cerebral palsy based on certain things she would do and dreaded Google searches.

Basingstoke Gazette:

"A month before Robyn's 2nd birthday, she was diagnosed with Spastic Diplegia of the lower limbs. It came to light that an MRI Scan that had been carried out during her stay in NICU was never disclosed, and she had in fact suffered a bleed on the brain either during or straight after birth. We were shocked."

Two years on Robyn is as eager and as determined as the day she arrived.

Charlotte and Lee started Robyn on private physio, hydro and strength and conditioning therapies. However, Robyn's life is not like an average child's; without these therapies, appointments and routine scans and checks, her mobility will deteriorate.

Charlotte said: "We are raising money for Just4Children to help provide Robyn with intensive therapies and equipment as well as making the necessary adaptations at home to help her be as independent as possible.

"She has made amazing progress and continues to surprise us, making us burst with pride daily. She has been our hero from the minute she was born. You see everything going on in the world nowadays, but our girl never complains, and she's always got a smile on her face. She's a little star and we couldn't be prouder of her."
