RESIDENTS of Odiham returned to its rocking form on Saturday, to mark Armed Forces day, with its popular annual music event ‘Bands in the Bury’.

The event was back after two years of cancellations due to the pandemic.

The return of the popular event saw huge crowds flock to the heart of the village to enjoy live bands, picnics and a drink or two.

The event was organised by Community group inOdiham.

Its chairman and Hart district cllr Jon Hale said: “I want to thank our amazing volunteers who put on a great day. But the real thank you goes to all our armed forces, especially those at RAF Odiham, who we are so proud to have within our community.”

Sqd Ldr Fitzpatrick responded on behalf of RAF Odiham, telling the crowd how important the strong bond between community and the RAF station was to all its serving personnel and their families.

A freak heavy rain shower fused the stages sounds system towards the end of the event, almost bringing the music to a premature end.

However the final act ‘The Corsairs’ were determined the show most go on. With an immense effort, all the equipment was changed to ensure it was safe.
