A BRAND-NEW Sainsbury's supermarket is due to open in Hook as plans progress.

The flagship retailer has confirmed that the new store is set to open in spring 2023.

Sainsbury’s has confirmed that it has been in regular contact with officers at both Hart District Council and Hampshire County Council, and construction of the new store is planned to begin in earnest this summer.

As previously reported Sainsburys announced last autumn that preparatory work was already taking place and while this continues, the internal design and layout of store are now being finalised.

Patrick Dunne, Sainsbury’s property director, said: “We’re excited to be moving ahead with this fantastic investment in Hook and are working with our partners to ensure the store meets all the needs of the community. We look forward to being able to welcome customers and our new colleagues to the store next year and we’ll keep everyone updated as it begins to take shape.”

The bespoke store has been designed in the hope of providing the best possible offer for customers in Hook.

Once open the new supermarket will stock a range of products including Sainsbury’s Fresh Food Market’ offering an extensive selection of fresh food, fruit and veg, food-to-go and freshly baked goods.

It will also feature a wide range of non-food products, including Habitat and Tu Clothing ranges, as well as a new Argos collection point, which will allow customers to order and collect Argos purchases in-store whilst picking up their groceries.

The new 25,000sq.ft store represents a major investment in Hook and after construction begins, Sainsbury’s will begin recruiting over 100 new colleagues from the local area to join the new store team, providing new job opportunities across a range of roles and departments from entry to management level.

Sainsbury’s recently announced an increase in pay to £10 an hour.
