A spokesperson from Hampshire Police, said: “We were called at 12.45am today to a report of a single-vehicle collision on Reading Road, Sherfield-on-Loddon. A car had collided with a fence outside the post office. No injuries were reported.

“A man in his 30s has been reported for summons for driving without a licence or insurance.”

The car crashed through the fence and into the seating area of The Coffee Shop next to the Post Office.

Kathleen, who works at the shop told The Gazette she was shocked to see the car when she came into work this morning.

She said: “It had happened through the night, and we came to work this morning and the car was in our outside seating area.

"We think the people it happened to had hit black ice on the corner but they were very lucky they didn’t hit the tree or anything because that would have been terrible.

“The car has now been towed away. It was frightening and a surprise but we were more concerned that someone had been hurt rather than the damage of the fence. We just wanted to make sure that everyone who was involved in it was alright."
