POLICE are appealing for information following a blaze which destroyed a derelict property in Tadley at the weekend.

As previously reported, firefighters from Basingstoke, Tadley and Berkshire crews were called to the scene on Burghfield Road on Sunday (January 2), where they found the property to be “well alight”.

A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS) spokesperson said: “Tadley and Basingstoke firefighters were joined by Royal Berkshire FRS colleagues from Mortimer and Theale fire stations, having been mobilised to the incident at 21:58.

“The structure was well-alight upon arrival and crews worked quickly to ensure the blaze didn’t spread to nearby trees or property.

“The derelict property on Burghfield Road in Tadley was completely destroyed in the flames, which were extinguished using two jets and two hose reels.

“Crews left the scene following the stop message at 00:42 (3 Jan).”

The cause of the fire is as yet unknown, with a spokesperson for Thames Valley Police adding: “I can confirm that we are investigating this incident to establish the circumstances. No arrests have yet been made.
