DRIVERS should expect delays at Black Dam roundabout this evening (Sunday, August 22), following a reported traffic incident.

AA Traffic News is currently recording slow moving traffic coming into Basingstoke from both the M3 and London Road following the incident, however no details or road closures are currently being shown.

One witness, who was stuck in traffic on the M3 at around 6.30pm, described the scene as involving two vehicles and a traffic light.

Posting in the Hampshire Drivers Facebook group, another driver added that the incident is "through the middle of the roundabout towards the town centre from J6".

The driver advised other motists to "approach with caution" due to "traffic backing up".

A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service confirmed to the Gazette that the team is not in attendance at the scene, but had passed the incident, and passed it to police.

The fire crew was en route to a six-vehicle traffic incident on the M3 northbound near Fleet Services, so anyone travelling in that area should also expect heavy delays.

Hampshire Constabulary has been contacted for comment.

It comes after there were four crashes on Black Dam roundabout in just a two day period earlier this year, leading to calls for a 'design rethink'.
