This is the terrifying image of three thieves calmly discussing the plan of attack moments before they ‘ram-sacked’ the house of a 55-year-old woman last night (Decemeber 12).

CCTV footage obtained by the Gazette shows the men attack the three-bedroom detached house at 5.30pm last night in South Ham in Eshers Close near Homebase.

Speaking to the Gazette, her son, who wished not to be named, said: “It’s so scary, she could have been at home with my kids and we wouldn’t have been able to do anything about it. It makes you wonder what else they are willing to do.”

This traumatic incident follows a series of recent burglaries in the area including the chilling attack on a property in Winchester Road just last week.

The three men entered the property via the rear conservatory windows before proceeding to tear the alarms off the wall from the hallway as well the outside alarm on the first floor of the building which they threw into the bathroom sink under running water.

Basingstoke Gazette:

It is currently unknown what was taken from the property as nothing “obvious” was missing, however the thieves left significant items of value in the house including Christmas presents left under the tree and TVs and computers left untouched.

Reflecting on the event, the man said that his mother is in a total state of shock and finds the whole incident very strange: “You think burglary and you’d think it [the house] would be cleared out, but they’ve ram-sacked the house and gone through all of her personal paperwork.

“They knew what they were doing, they took their time and made sure they’d gone through absolutely everything, completely trashing the house. Hell, they even taking the time to turn their car around in the driveway.”

But this isn’t the first time the property has been burgled, as the father-of-two continued: “About two or three of years ago she had her house burgled in the middle of the night and had her car keys stolen from inside the house whilst she was sleeping.

"That’s when she got all the alarms but even that hasn’t stopped them.”

The family are appealing to any witnesses who were in the area at the time of the attack with any information to come forward and contact the police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting the reference 44190446899.
