BASINGSTOKE Town concluded their best pre-season in recent years with a 3-0 victory in Guernsey.

The Dragons first taste of European football, saw them pass the test with flying colours.

They now have their eyes firmly set on the league opener on Saturday at home to Banbury.

In the Channel Islands, Town were forced to borrow goalkeeper Tom Creed from the home side, after Alex Tokarczyk was injured in the warm-up.

At the other end, former Town shot stopper Chris Tardif was beaten by a superb 25-yard strike from Aaron Redford, after just a minute.

Just before the break, Tardif made a great stop which denied the Dragon’s a second goal.

However, Town did double their lead after the interval, thanks to a tap in from George Hallahan.

Ashley Antwell then added a third goal in the final minutes of the contest to complete the 3-0 victory.

Last Wednesday, Town completed their home pre-season programme with an impressive 2-1 win over National League South side Gosport Borough.

Striker Aaron Jarvis opened the scoring after the break, only for former Town forward Ben Wright to level things.

The Town winner came from a splendid top corner strike from Michael Atkinson.

Gosport included Tom Bird and Chris Flood, who left the Dragons in the summer for the south coast.
