BASINGSTOKE Town booked their place in the last eight of the Hampshire Senior Cup with 1-0 victory at Blackfield and Langley

Striker George Hallahan celebrated his return to the starting XI with the winning goal three minutes before half-time.

Town made a number of changes to their line-up as Ryan Case, Tom Bird, Harrison Gilkes, Guiseppe Sole, Manny Williams and Louie Soares all started the game.

Hallahan goal came as he fired in from the edge of the area, which gave the visitors a well deserved lead at the break.

The Dragons should have doubled their advantage 10 minutes into the second-half when they awarded a penalty after Louis Soares was brought down, but Manny Williams put the spot kick wide of the right hand post having sent the goalie the wrong way.

Defender Nathan Smart was captain for the game, as Town made it two wins on the trot, they will now go for the hat-trick against Dartford at the Camrose on Saturday.

In other results on Tuesday night, Aldershot lost 4-0 to AFC Portchester, meaning Town's main rivals for the trophy are now Havant and Eastleigh.

Havant play at Petersfield tonight and Eastleigh are at Winchester City on Tuesday.
