BASINGSTOKE Town will be targetting their first win of the season when Bishop's Stortford visit The Camrose on Saturday (3pm).

The Dragons have had a disappointing start to the campaign, being edged out 1-0 by title favourites Ebbsfleet United on the opening day before going down 2-1 to visiting Bath City on Tuesday night – despite goalkeeper Aaron Howe saving two penalties.

However, Town boss Jason Bristow has been encouraged by his side's performances and believes that they will turn things around soon.

"The performances have been good, but the results have not, so it's important that we all continue to show belief in the players," he said.

"It's important that we do not over-react. We are not a poor side because we have lost two games.

"I have been impressed with the patience the players have shown. At times, it's natural to want to get the ball forward quickly, but we believe in what we are doing.

"If we stick to our guns, opportunities will come. Towards the end of the Bath game, we worked ourselves into good positions, put good deliveries into the box and created chances."

Next up for Bristow's men is a visit from a Bishop's Stortford side who have had a mixed start to the campaign. They beat highly-fancied Havant and Waterlooville 3-0 first up, but lost 4-1 at Maidenhead United on Tuesday night.

Bristow said: "Bishop's Stortford will be a tough side to play against.

"They sat back, made themselves difficult to break down and hit us with a sucker-punch to win 1-0 here last season and I don't expect them to be much different this time around."

After that, Basingstoke make the trip to National League South new boys Oxford City on Tuesday night (7.45pm).

"Oxford City are a good side. They try to play football and play through the thirds, so we might not have as much of the ball as we have in the games so far, but that is one of the things we are going to come up against."
