BASINGSTOKE Town manager Jason Bristow says that new signing Will Salmon's versatility will be a big bonus for his side.

Basingstoke-born defender Salmon has joined from Ryman League outfit Met Police.

The 28-year-old began his career at Aldershot Town before spells with AFC Wimbledon, Ebbsfleet, Telford United and Woking.

He helped Telford to achieve promotion to the top tier of non-league football and has also played at that level for Ebbsfleet and Woking.

The versatile defender captained Met Police in the Ryman League Premier Division last season, helping them to the play-offs.

Bristow said: "We watched Will a few times at the end of last season and he has great experience, not only at this level but also above. His knowhow will help the squad and he is looking forward to playing for his hometown team.

"He can play right across the back four and is equally comfortable at right-back, left-back or centre-back.

"It really appealed to us that he is so versatile. Tom Bird was our only natural left-back last season and it's great to have more competition for places at right-back and in the centre of defence."

Town have announced three further pre-season friendly fixtures. They will make the short trip to Fleet Town on July 21, before hosting Aldershot Town on July 25 and travelling to Leatherhead on August 1.

There could be another pre-season game in the pipeline, with Bristow hoping to secure a home fixture against a Football League club in the coming days.

The make-up of the National League South has been finalised. Dartford are the only club to come down from the National League, while Maidstone United, Margate and Truro City have all been promoted into the division. Oxford City have been moved sideways, after finishing sixth in National League North last season.

The club have announced that season ticket and admission prices have been frozen for the forthcoming season.

Season tickets will cost £160 for adults, £110 for concessions and £20 for under-16s, with discounts on offer for tickets bought before August 1. Until the end of July, adults will pay £150, concessions £105 and under-16s £18.

Admission will continue to cost £12 for adults, £8 for concessions and £2 for under-16s.
