Kingsclere retain the championship


KINGSCLERE have retained the Basingstoke and District Tennis League men’s title with Andover A in runners-up spot.

Old Basing B won their final match 7-1 against Odiham with Matthew Savastano and Mike Chamberlain getting a maximum to finish third.

Overton A had a good 5-3 success against RSF A with Shaun McDonald and Mark Swinscoe winning all their sets.

The same pair were also unbeaten in their team’s final match of the season, a draw with Odiham.

The Totally Tennis B team took the Division Two title on sets won from Aldermaston A after a draw with Andover B.

David Munt and Elliot Rowberry won all their sets for the draw.

Totally Tennis A finished in third place following wins against Andover B by 7-1 and Overton B 6-2.

Jack Nicholson and Ben Jubin were unbeaten against Andover as were Joe Cox and Simon Taylor in the Overton match.

Preston Candover A won their final game 6-2 against Andover B thanks to a maximum from Charlie Carter and Richard Mole, while Hook drew with Whitchurch.

Beechdown A maintained their 100 per cent record in Division Three to take the title after victories against BDH B 7-1, Waverley B 8-0 and a very hard fought 5-3 win over second placed Preston Candover B.

Simon Wood/Dan Doherty and Nick Goodall/Terry Francis made up their team in the Waverley match.

Andover C won their final game 5-3 against Odiham B thanks to a maximum from Paul Jenner and George Beare.

Waverley B beat Oakley B 5-3 but slipped up 7-1 against Preston Candover B, who had Charlie Carter and Ron Bligh to thank for their maximum.

Mortimer took the honours in Division Four, after a very close 5-3 win at Oakley C.

Runners-up Aldermaston B finished with a draw against Odiham C.
