THE Old Basing Tennis club held it annual finals day with whole host of titles up for grabs.

Jamie Thomas retained his men’s singles crown as his height, wingspan and youth saw him beat Phil Dixon.

Dixon avenged the defeat in the men’s doubles final as he teamed up with James Chamberlain and beat Thomas and Andy Mountford 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4).

Thomas was also involved in the mixed doubles final which was a real family as he teamed up with his mother Lynne Thomas, but unfortunately they lost to husband and wife pair Simon and Tina Wood 6-3,6-4.

The men’s handicapped doubles final saw Tim Winkle and Charles Robertson beat Steve Sakakini and Darren Rampton 6-2 6-3.

The ladies handicapped doubles was the first one to eight games and was played between Jemma Godleman and Caroline Lomax with a handicap of minus 15 against Debbie Robertson and Carol Torselli with a handicap of plus 15. It was Godelman and Lomax who came out on top with an 8-4 victory.

The ladies doubles title went to Beverley Cleaver and Sandie Benham as they beat Tina Wood and Emma Giddens, after a very tight first set Cleaver and Benham went on to win 6-3 6-1.

Godleman won the ladies singles title by default, unfortunately no one else entered.

The trophies were presented by former chairman Chris Jones and the tournament was organised by Heather and Clive Mountford.
