The opening salvos of the Basingstoke and District Tennis Summer League have taken place, and in Men’s Division One, three sides won their opening matches convincingly.

Kingsclere A beat Old Basing B and Aldermaston A 7-1, after Chris Pearce/Paul Rattue won all their sets against Old Basing and Daniel Cole/Steve Mills did likewise in the Aldermaston match.

RSF A recorded an 8-0 win over Aldermaston and a 6-2 win against Overton A.

Meanwhile, Old Basing A beat their own B team 7-1, with Rob Still/Phil Dixon getting a maximum, and then won 6-2 at Waverley A.

Defending champions Andover A had an 8-0 victory against Waverley A, while Aldermaston A won 5-3 at Preston Candover as Dave Bull/Pete Hillman won all their sets.

The Waverley A team of Perveez Mirza/Tony Vanderslott and Eric Springer/Lee Watts won 8-0 against Preston Candover.

Beechdown A lead the way in Division Two after defeating Odiham A 5-3 and their own B team 7-1, with Hoss Ashraf/Chris Arnold unbeaten in both matches.

Winchester opened their account with a convincing 8-0 win against Odiham A and Andover B beat Beechdown B 6-2.

Overton B head Division Three after they drew with Andover C, before beating Mortimer A 5-3 and Basingstoke and District Hospital 6-2. Eric McCann and Drew Rob-inson won four sets against BDH.

The Hook team of Simon King/Alex Waterfield and Graeme Mutch/Anthony Myland won 8-0 at Beechdown C, but lost 7-1 to RSF and slipped up 5-3 against Kings-clere B. Nigel Baker/John Milnes won four sets for Kingsclere.

Nick Harris/Dave Thomas and Andrew Richardson/Mark Eastwood gave Mortimer A a great 8-0 win at Andover C.

Aldermaston B lead Division Four after wins against Oakley C (6-2), Old Basing C (7-1) and Totally Tennis C (8-0), with a team of Chris Apsey/Nigel Bailey and Scott Davies-Hearn/Jeremy Gammon.

Hampshire Court A have also won their first three matches, against Old Basing C (6-2), their own B team (5-3) and Oakley C (8-0), with Ashley Childs/Stuart Eling and Mark Flower/Simon Woodhall making up their team against Oakley.

The Hampshire Court B team are in third spot after wins against Odiham B (5-3) and then their team of Darren Giddings/Phil Banfield and Simon Wood/Steve Wingfield beat Totally Tennis B 8-0.

Luke Pettican/Steve Ridsdel and Phil Emptage/Maurits gave Totally Tennis B an 8-0 win over their C team, while Mortimer B beat Odiham B 5-3.
