BEECHDOWN A are hot on the heels of leaders Andover A in the Basingstoke and District Tennis League Ladies Division One after both teams won their latest matches.

Andover enjoyed a 7-1 win against RSF with Claire Coomer/Clare Reid winning all their sets and Beechdown beat bottom club Sherborne 8-0.

Karen McKenzie/Nikki Lines and Julia Redman/Jill Vaughan gave Aldermaston A an 8-0 win against Goodworth Clatford A, while Oakley secured a good 5-3 win at Old Basing A.

Overton took control of Division Two with 7-1 wins against Hook and Goodworth Clatford B. Lucy Battersby was unbeaten in both matches, teaming up with Diane Robinson and Zoe Taylor respectively.

Another team to record two wins were Totally Tennis A. They beat Andover B 7-1, with Meryl Patterson and Aimee Paterson being unbeaten, and Old Basing B 5-3. Old Basing then drew with Odiham.

Winchester moved to the top of Division Three after a 5-3 win at Whitchurch thanks to a maximum from Anna Taylor and Linda Atkins.

The Winchester team did go down 5-3 to second-placed Mortimer, who remain unbeaten.

There are still a lot of matches to be played in most of the mixed divisions, however in Division One, defending champions Andover A are going to take a lot of stopping after two further 8-0 wins against both Odiham and Overton.

Beechdown A’s pairings of Emma Giddings/Simon Wood and Andrea Butcher/Chris Ball secured a good 8-0 win at Aldermaston A.

Oakley A are looking for an immediate return to the top flight after a third straight win in Division Two, beating Preston Candover A 7-1.

Mortimer A had a good 5-3 win against previous leaders RSF A and Totally Tennis A beat Preston Candover A 5-3.

The only result in Division Three saw a draw between Sherborne and Oakley C.

Beechdown D joined leaders RSF B at the top of Division Four after a 7-1 win over Mortimer B, with Paul Ayres and Jane Freer winning all their sets.

Odiham B suffered two defeats, firstly 5-3 at Old Basing B, with a maximum for the home pair of Matthew Savastano and Jemma Godleman, and then against Whitchurch 6-2, with James Billingham and Julie Bourne being unbeaten.

Odiham C beat Old Basing B 5-3 in a closely-fought match.

Defending champions Andover A moved to the top of Men’s Division One after a 7-1 win at Beechdown A, with Martyn Isherwood and Mike Prince getting a maximum. Previous leaders Old Basing A were held to a draw by Kingsclere A.

Old Basing B head Division Two after a hard-fought 5-3 win against Goodworth Clatford B and Andover B beat Oakley B 7-1, with Sam Birks and Alex Lee being unbeaten.

Preston Candover recorded a 6-2 win against Beechdown B, with Charlie Carter/Richard Mole winning all their sets, while Winchester beat Oakley B 7-1.

Waverley B continue to lead Division Three after a 6-2 success against Aldermaston B as Tom Clist/Chris Clinch secured another maximum.

Yet to drop a point are Totally Tennis A after an 8-0 score at Mortimer A.

Aldermaston B lost 5-3 to Hook but also recorded their first win and points of the season with a 5-3 result at Goodworth Clatford C.

Dave Burrell/Robert Rust were unbeaten as BDH beat Goodworth Clatford C 6-2.

RSF B have all but won Division Four after a two further 8-0 wins against Totally Tennis B and at Mortimer B.
