CHINEHAM swapped places with Sandown and Shanklin in Hampshire One after they won on the Isle of Wight 24-19.

The Lions are now up to fifth in the table after their fifth successive win, and this week they are at home to Ellingham and Ringwood at May's Bounty on Saturday (2pm).

With the wind advantage on the island in the first 40 minutes, Chineham built up a 24-0 lead thanks to tries from Lloyd Amos, Kris Ford and Dave Rees with Rees’ try the pick of the bunch through a charge down on the five metre line which dribbled over the line and touched the ball down. Ford converted all the tries and also kicked over a penalty. In the second half the home side replied with 19 points, but the visitors held on record another victory.

All the other local rugby sides had a week off last weekend, but are back in action on Saturday.

Tadley will be looking to build on their excellent 74-5 win over Risborough in the Berks & Bucks Oxon Premier.

The victory kept Tadley fourth and are away at tenth placed Slough.

In the Championship, Aldermaston are also on their travels to Farnham Royal.

In Hampshire Two,. Overton are at home to Aldershot, while Kingsclere travel to Ventnor.
