CHRIS Mohan raced to a hat-trick of podiums in the latest rounds of the Dunlop VAG Trophy Championship at at Silverstone.

The Chineham saloon driver secured two second-place finishes and a third at the circuit used for the British Grand Prix.

The weekend started with a wet qualifying, but Mohan put his ISN Golf GTI second in B Class on the grid.

The opening race of the weekend was wet and B Class championship leader Roy Allum dropped out, so Mohan led the class for the first five laps.

However, an air filter problem caused the car to lose power, with Mohan forced to nurse it home, settling for second place behind Barrie Culley.

The second race took place on a dry track, but with a reverse grid, the Chineham driver found himself second from the back.

Mohan narrowly avoided a big crash on the opening lap and while he did get clipped, there was no significant damage to his car.

He had a good battle with race one winner Barrie Culley, the pair fighting it out for second place in their class, with Mohan coming out on top.

The third and final outing saw Mohan start from second on the grid, but due to wear on his tyres, he had to settle for third spot behind Allum and Culley.

The Chineham driver’s points haul from Silverstone saw him stay second in the B Class standings.

He will be looking to do even better at the next round, which will take place at Snetterton on the weekend of July 24 and 25.

Mohan said: “It was great to get some more consistent points in the bag.

“Snetterton is another three-race weekend and it’s a track that I do well on.”

He added: “We are undergoing some development work on the car to help me in the corners and with the tyre wear.

“This will be completed in time for Snetterton, so I am hoping I can get the ISN Golf GTI on the top step of the podium and get another three podium finishes over the course of the weekend.”
