FATHER and son Rob and Ricky Collard will be on the hunt for more podium finishes at Oulton Park this weekend.

Both enjoyed second place finishes in their last outings on their home track of Thruxton.

Hook’s British Touring Car Championship driver Rob Collard claimed his podium in the second race at the Hampshire race.

He also won the season opener on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit.

The West Surrey Racing driver is currently seventh in the championship standings, 38 points behind Honda’s Gordon Shedden, but he is the leading BMW driver.

The Hook driver has fond memories of Oulton Park as last year he finished second and third at the Cheshire circuit.

Collard said: “The car feels good and at the moment and we are getting results.

“Oulton is more of a driver’s circuit than sheer power so I think we will have a good chance of doing well.

“Last year I had two podium finishes and I hope I can do the same again this year at least.”

Collard’s son Ricky carried on the family success at the Hampshire circuit, taking over as leader of the MSA Formula Championship, one of the support races to the BTCC.

The teenager finished fourth in his first two races and then ended the day with a strong second place finish.

He is in impressive form in the single seater format at the moment, having finished in the top four in each of his last five races.

Last season at Oulton Park, Collard collected two seventh places and also finished eighth on a circuit he had not driven on before.

The action from the weekend’s meeting will be shown on ITV4 on Sunday afternoon.
