BASINGSTOKE Futsal Club the reigning Hampshire champions have been accepted into the National League Division Two South East for this coming season.

It is a remarkable raise for a club which was formed by head coach Andrew Micek in 2014 and they are looking to recruit new players.

The club began playing fixtures in a local league in Reading, in which it had a very successful time.

Hampshire FA started the Hampshire league and Basingstoke have been the champions for the last two seasons.

So they have now moved up to the third tier of the game in this country, where they face the likes of Reading Royals and Woking.

They train and play at the Winchester Sparsholt College and their first game is on 15 August away at Aylesbury.

This is a massive step up and requires a lot of commitment, so they are looking for volunteers and also sponsorship in what is the fastest growing sport in Britain.

Futsal is a five-a-side game, normally played on a indoor pitch with goals which are 2 x 3 metres wide and a size four ball with a reduced bounce. It is played to touchlines and all players are free to enter the penalty area and play the ball over head-height.

Games are 20 minutes per half, played to a stopping clock similar to basketball with time-outs permitted.

The Basingstoke club is looking one day to play in the National Super League.

Where there is a possibility of access to European competitions against the likes of Barcelona, and Milan Futsal teams.

There is also a plan in place to start an academy with an eight to 10 year old group to begin with.
