NORTH Warnborough ski sensation Sarah Woodward is not feeling the pressure ahead of the English Alpine Championships, in Italy, which start tomorrow.

Woodward, 15, won the under-16 overall title in Bormio, last year, to add to the under-14 overall crown in 2015.

The championships feature the best English skiers in the country, ranging from under-10s up to seniors.

The championships continue to feature the rising stars previously acting as a platform for the likes of Chemmy Alcott and Dave Ryding.

Woodward, a Robert May’s pupil ,would love to emulate the success of her illustrious predecessors, and she confessed that it was the racing element to skiing, that first made her fall in love with the sport.

Woodward said: “I like the speed, adrenaline, the start gate, being nervous and getting to the bottom of a run and thinking it was so much fun, or I was so happy with how I skied. You put in so much work, but for a sport I love I’m happy to do it. With fitness, school work, then runs on the hill, when you get the outcome you’ve been working so hard for in training, it’s great.”
