BUCKSKIN darts ace Paul Hogan will face top seed and red-hot favourite Glen Durrant this evening in the last 16 of the British Darts Organisation World Championships at Lakeside in Frimley Green.

The 53-year-old is the third and final match of the evening session, as he looks to make his third World Championships quarter-final.

To reach his showdown with Durrant, Hogan survived a valiant fightback from 16th seed Phillips to win their match 3-2.

Hogan won seven of the opening eight legs as he stormed into a two sets lead, but Phillips fought back bravely, winning six of the following nine legs to level the match at 2-2.

Hogan said: "I don't know what happened I seem to fall asleep and then thought I going to lose, but came back and won.

"I still feel I can play a lot better especially on the doubles and I know Glen will be a tough match."

Hogan nicknamed Crocodile Dundee having seen his lead vanish, held his nerve in the opening leg of decider, after Phillips wired on double seven for a 122 out shot.

The Welshmen tied the match again, but Hogan was not to be denied and two 140s helped him to take the third leg and his 14th 140 of the match saw him finish with a 78 out shot as he he hit double six.

On Sunday, Hogan cruised into the first round at Lakeside after a straight sets victory over American Tom Sawyer.

Hogan showed Sawyer in his Lakeside debut no mercy winning five of the first six legs including a 150 check-out as in fired in a treble 20, treble 18 and double 18.

The final set was the closest of the match as Hogan took a 2-1 lead, before thanks to the first maximum of the match Sawyer tied the set.

The American's chances of the taking the match into a fourth set were dashed, as Hogan finished things off with a double eight.
