BLUEWAVE Korean Martial Arts sent three players to this year’s British Taekwondo National Championships, which attracted 950 competitors from across the country to the CopperBox Arena on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London.

This was by far the largest Olympic style Taekwondo Championships held in the UK and provided an excellent standard of competition.

Mujahid Baksh competing in the A Class Senior (18+) under 58kg division showed great spirit and determination but was eliminated in the quarter finals by the British number two.

Alex Stock, who has been tremendous over the last few events which led to him being ranked British number one in the Junior (15 to 17) A Class under 68kg division.

A brilliant set of fights saw him come through to the final to meet the British Number two Dion Richardson.

As would be expected the top two players in the country put on an amazing final.

Stock initially pulling out a lead which Richardson pulled back and then led himself by three points.

However, Stock hit back to level things at 11-11, so it went into a golden point round, which unfortunately went against Stock and had to settle for the silver medal.

Hayden Corby was competing at his first Nationals in the Cadet (11 to 14) B Class under 45kg division.

Corby has demonstrated his potential, winning gold at all his previous events this year and went out to win right from the start.

He was very dominate in both his quarter and semi final matches with decisive wins.

Despite his inexperience he took his spirit into the final, and was on top from the start with a very aggressive attacking style.

The match finally completed with Corby winning 24-7 and becoming British champion.
